Risk Inventory & Evaluation (RI&E)

A RI&E (Risk inventory and Evaluation) is the systematic map of all risks in your organization - in the areas of safety, health, well-being and psychosocial workload. It is not just about addressing bottlenecks, but also about gaining insight into what is well arranged. This forms the basis of responsible occupational health and safety policy.

This is not an optional instrument. Since 1994, the Working Conditions Act has required employers to maintain a current RI& E to keep. Without these, I-SZW (formerly the Labor Inspectorate) can impose fines. Many insurers write an up-to-date RI&E also for their terms and conditions. More practically, good understanding of risks prevents work-related absenteeism and accidents. If something does happen due to insufficient working conditions, you are without RI& E legally vulnerable. With a solid RI&E and clear action plan you protect your organization and your employees.

Proceeding - Execution of an RI&E

  • Preparation - Appointments are made and you will receive a questionnaire about your organization's current occupational health and safety policy
  • Conversation with the public prosecutor - The advisor agrees on policy, risks and current measures
  • Conversations with employees - Interviews in the workplace or in a group context, supplemented with questionnaire research where relevant
  • Business tour - Direct observation of workplaces, work equipment and work processes
  • Reporting - Written report (Word, PDF) and digital recording in RIEaction (our management tool)
  • Plan of Action - Based on findings, you draw up a plan: which points of interest to address, who is responsible, when is it ready?

Progress - Assessment of an RI&E
Does your organization already have a RI&E and would you like to have it validated by an independent expert?

  • Preparation and analysis - Your existing RI& The including action plan will be thoroughly reviewed by our advisor
  • Company visit - We speak to the operator of the RI&E and perform a testing tour
  • Report of review - The consultant shall determine whether the RI& E is complete and adequate. The results are: disapproval, approval, or approval with reservations (usually the case). Where necessary, we will name exactly what still needs to be added
  • Without repeat loop - The report does not need to be presented to us for approval again; you can act immediately
